New version, new website, new logo

8. May 2025
Features

NOVA AVA does not normally have a version, but is continuously improved. But “new version” fits best for what is coming in NOVA AVA.
The launch is planned for May 10.

Modernized NOVA AVA interface

The first thing you will notice is the user interface. Since its launch over 10 years ago, NOVA AVA has become more comprehensive. Nevertheless, NOVA AVA as a tool should be as easy, simple and intuitive as possible for everyone. We have therefore taken a fresh look at the interface.

In the modernized interface

  • the information on the screen is reduced to what is really essential. At the same time, it remains clear. Texts have been shortened, spaces between texts have been increased. All this improves readability.
  • symbols are used that speak more. So that the right thing can be recognized and clicked more quickly.
  • the menu in the sidebar is clearer. It now contains sections that can be expanded and collapsed.

Here are some examples of important innovations.

Even clearer

NOVA AVA has always been clear and tidy.

This is the previous dialog for the PDF output.

On closer inspection, however, you can see that texts can be shortened.

It’s not just the texts that are shorter in the new dialog. The space between the texts has been slightly increased. In addition, the activated options are displayed with greater contrast.

New sidebar with categories

In the last two screenshots you can easily compare the menus in the sidebar. The new sidebar now contains sections that can be expanded and collapsed.

All overview lists for projects, addresses, LVs and many others have been redesigned. In addition to a visual upgrade, we have created new helpful functions and display options, e.g. for the project list.

In the new tile mode, the elements are displayed as individual tiles. When using meaningful graphics for your projects, access is now even faster.

In the new map mode, for example, your projects or addresses from the address book are displayed on a map.

Clicking on the icon in the map takes you directly to the editing of the project.

You can now filter overview lists at the click of a mouse and save these filters. This allows you to organize long lists and saves you a lot of scrolling.

You can use the column selection to make your overviews even clearer. You can now use the new column selection to decide which columns you want to see.

New functions

The refreshed, modern design runs throughout NOVA AVA. The new version naturally comes with improved functionalities, particularly in the following areas

  • Cost analysis and
  • Cost planning

Innovations in cost analysis

Certainly the biggest innovation in terms of cost analysis:
From now on, several cost analyses can be created in a project and used in parallel, e.g. according to different cost classifications. For example, a project can contain a cost analysis for construction professionals according to the DIN 276 cost breakdown and a parallel cost analysis according to trades, which is easier to understand for non-experts.

But that’s not all.

This is what the new cost analysis looks like.

Let’s take a look at the main innovations below.

The numbers on the right in the screenshot and in this list correspond:

  1. Cost analyses can be archived (saved) as a version.
  2. You can switch between versions via History.
  3. The current data status used is clearly highlighted.
  4. The button for updating is clearly marked. The cost analysis is only updated and recalculated when the button is clicked (this improves performance).
  5. Colored markings serve as a practical reminder. There is also a new Comment column (not visible here).
  6. The cost analysis can now log key cost values.

Cost planning – innovations

The first new feature is the new column “A” for “activated”. It determines what is included in the calculation of the cost total. The options are

  • “green tick” = activated = is included
  • “Minus sign” = deactivated = is NOT included.

In column A, individual lines or entire areas can be activated or deactivated. If an entire area is deactivated, a “minus sign” is displayed. A “yellow tick” at the level of an area indicates that not all sub-rows are activated in it. This can also be seen when an area is collapsed.

Do we still need to say what this makes possible? In this way, you can think through cost planning variants (alternative, contingent) directly in a single cost plan. And you can present these variants live – for example, directly to the client.

The second major innovation in the area of cost planning is how to deal with prices that you have taken from other sources (e.g. previous projects or external price libraries such as STLB-Bau).

First of all, with the “Change prices” function you can now adjust unit prices by percentage and have them rounded at the same time. You can limit this price change to selected areas.

NOVA now saves the transferred source prices in a separate column in the cost planning. Because when unit prices are changed, it is easy to lose track. Now you can keep an eye on the original price and can easily return to “Start”.

New logo & new website

You noticed it long ago. NOVA AVA is getting a new logo. Not that we no longer like our previous logo. On the contrary, we have grown fond of it.

On the other hand – we want to give the fresher NOVA AVA a modernized appearance overall – with a modernized logo and website – from 10.5.2025 under the new address nova-ava.de.
